Restaurants near St Albans Cathedral: Megan’s at the Old Bell is a beautiful new restaurant situated in the heart of St Albans, with a delicious all day dining menu, open for brunch, lunch, dinner, & cocktails.

Our loosely Mediterranean restaurant is only a 4 minute walk from the stunning cathedral. It is a lovely walk through the Vintry Garden, which is right next to the cathedral, up a cute little cobbled path, and on to Chequer Street, where Megan’s is situated.

As mentioned, our menu is loosely Mediterranean. Our Head Chef, Sercan, is Turkish, and so we have many dishes with a twist on Sercan’s home recipes.

Brunch.

Like our delicious shakshouka on the brunch menu, which is available alongside brunch classics like Eggs Benedict & a full English grill. We have both healthy light options, and indulgent naughty options. There’s pancakes, veggie brunches, healthy bowls & more. Truly something for everyone 🙂

Our brunch is available until 5pm, which is great for those late risers and afternoon poached egg cravings.

Lunch.

On our lunch menu, we have our healthy salad deli bar, toasties & sandwiches, baguettes, open posh kebabs & warming shakshouka kebabs. Our healthy bowls are also available, & as our brunch is available until 5pm, you can also enjoy that menu at lunch time.

Lunch is available from 11.30am until 3pm. Brunch is available alongside lunch, from opening in the morning, until 3pm too.

Our evening menu.

For dinner in the evening, we have a mixture of sharing starters (or not sharing if you’re feeling peckish), mixed mezze plates, healthy grills, cokertme steak & our kebabs are available. Think lightly spiced home cooking.

Our dinner menu is available from 3pm until we close in the evening. We are also open for just cocktails if you fancy popping in for a cocktail and cake.

The restaurant is very near to the Cathedral so you can pop your head in before visiting the cathedral, walk in to grab a table, or make a booking online. We always accept walk ins but do advise booking a table to ensure that we have space for you.
